Baggage, Baggage, Baggage

I rode my bike today for the first time in a couple of weeks without any bags on it.

What a revelation. How smooth! How quick! How light! How agile!

How bloody difficult to steer and keep going the way you think you want it to. No longer weighed down and laboriously heading in the same direction. Constantly twitching and wanting to head off on a new course.

It makes you think. Well, it made me think, briefly. Then as I careered from one side of the road to the other, I decided that a bit of baggage to help steer the course was ok. 🙂

  1. Aye, I had that when I got on my road bike on return from the Western Isles.

I realised while riding the Tourer on the western Isles after being offered a location to drop bags on the way to the Butt of Lewis that I actually needed the weight on the bike to keep going.

The extra weight really helps with the momentum.
